Hello, I’m Tiago Marques, an acupuncturist and pain specialist with more than 10 years’ experience. I’m originally from Portugal and now practice in England, treating patients at New Beginnings Acupuncture in Wolverhampton and Bideford, North Devon.

I mainly work with pain and musculoskeletal conditions, including long-standing and severe cases such as chronic pain, arthritis, sciatica, frozen shoulder, lower back pain and TMJ (jaw) pain. I also offer post-stroke support.

My treatments combine traditional acupuncture, distal needling techniques, laser acupuncture and practical lifestyle advice, tailored to you. Acupuncture can usually be used alongside your GP’s or specialist’s care. It complements conventional medical treatment and doesn’t replace it.

My background

I studied Traditional Chinese Medicine in Lisbon and at Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, where I completed a clinical internship at the university’s teaching hospital.

Earlier in my career I treated patients on board cruise ships travelling around the world, including people from the UK, US, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Australia and New Zealand.

Since 2018 I have been an invited teacher at EBRAMEC, the Brazilian University of Chinese Medicine in São Paulo.
